Hey ya’ll, it’s me Kevy-Kev (aka just plain ole’ Kevin). I figured I’d go on and post something in hopes that Denise will stop sending me death threats for not doing so. Seriously, I think it’s a great idea that we have something like this that provides a means to get reconnected and reacquainted, and I’m glad that Denise has taken the initiative to set it up.
Now if you’re still awake, I hope you’re seated because the rest of this can put an ox to sleep. Right out of high school I jerked around for a few months before joining the US Air Force where I became the youngest pilot to get shot down and held captive during the first gulf war. As I recall, McCain was there with me, but I am known to get my facts grossly confused. Honestly, I was in the Air Force and I did serve in the first gulf war for approximately 8 months, but I was neither a pilot nor a POW. My permanent duty station was Phoenix, AZ where I spent four years and was fortunate enough to run into a number of Hammond natives. At the end of the four years I returned to Hammond to attend Southern University. I can remember running into people like Denise Johnson, Silta McCraney (sp, sorry Silta) and Erica Betts, and thinking that I really had to get my stuff together because I was a freshman and they were seniors and grad students. Four years later, I finished with an accounting degree and landed a job at Pennzoil Company in Houston, TX. Four months later, I married Vivian Johnson of Amite, Louisiana and we’ve been raising three children (Kyle – 7, Kasey – 4 and Kevin – 3) here in Houston ever since. You may have noticed that things seem to happen in “fours” for me, but I guarantee you that we’re stopping at three children…I got a little insurance on that. I’ve been in the oil and gas industry for the last 10 years, so I encourage you to continue driving those gas guzzling, 25 passenger SUVs as often as possible. Personally, I’ve never been to Alaska to see an ice cap so who cares if they melt. I mean, have you ever seen the ozone??? Global warming is probably just a marketing tool to keep Al Gore employed. Anyway, nice talking to you and see ya next year.
